Piercing Aftercare & Healing
HOW TO CLEAN A PIERCING:
•Always wash your hands using antibacterial hand soap.
•It is advised to utilize a warm un-ionized sea salt soak or compress everyday.
HOW TO MAKE A SEA SALT SOAK:
•Dissolve a ¼” Tsp. of un-ionized sea salt in 8oz. of warm distilled water in a clean glass.
•Mix 4 Tsp. of un-ionized sea salt in a 1 gallon jug of distilled water for easier use.
•Once the solution is made, pour the needed amount into a clean glass and warm very slightly. (You may also wet clean single use gauze pads to make a compress.)
•Press the glass or compress over the piercing site and allow the area to soak for about 8-10 minutes or until the water has cooled.
THINGS TO AVOID:
•Touching the piercing with unclean hands
•Excessive movement of the jewelry, including pulling, tugging or excessive “pressure”.
•Exposure to bacteria and germs through oral contact with another person, as well as contact with bodily fluids, whether theirs or another persons.
•Swimming in or soaking in bodies of water, including rivers, lakes, pools and hot tubs.
•Over cleaning or using multiple cleaning agents.
•Wearing inappropriate jewelry for their piercing.
•Contact with hair and cosmetic products or other chemicals used for personal care.
DO NOT REMOVE OR CHANGE YOUR JEWELRY UNTIL THE FULL HEALING TIME IS COMPLETED. PLEASE DO NOT USE PRODUCTS SUCH AS BETADINE SURICAL SCRUB, ISOPROPAL RUBBING ALCOHOL, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, OR OTHER PRODUCTS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN SUGGESTED BY YOUR PIERCING PROFESSIONAL. THEY SLOW DOWN THE HEALING PROCESS AND MAY LEAD TO COMPLICATIONS.
